Roberto Campos

Roberto Campos’ painting is one of deserts, itineraries, labyrinths, cities, seas, photographic shots and constructed ruins; the variation of this repertory of themes generates pieces, all of which are different, but which share a common foundation. He understands the universe as an unlimited construction whose formal elements are structures which he builds, based on the search for an aesthetical and poetic balance which is achieved through horizontality (which secures and supports) and verticality (which grows and searches). All is rhythm, geometry and colour, with the occasional introduction of organic and figurative references into this geometric world. There is no decoration in Campo’s painting; sobriety imposes its elegance, neither is there any waste, only neatness and good taste.
A nationally and internationally recognised artist, he has taken part in fairs such as ARCO, Art Cologne and Art Miami. He has had various solo exhibitions in Galería ASTARTÉ since 1999. He has received grants from Canada, Italy and France, from the Spanish Academy in Rome and from the Colegio de España in Paris.
